Project Sheet – Microsoft FrontPage

FrontPage is a very robust web-page design software package and we are using it to create a "teacher website" for you, the pre-professional educator.

The website we create will serve two purposes:

1. First, it is designed to give you experience in developing a website as an electronic communication tool to use with in your professional practice. Many people expect that you’ll have a website where they can browse for information they feel they need (and information you feel they need).

2. Secondly, for the purposes of EDTC 3123, the website will be the “holding place” for the products you create during the course, including your thematic unit (and all accompanying materials), Microsoft Publisher documents, and Microsoft PowerPoint slide show.

Following an in-class tutorial on FrontPage XP, the student will:

1. Create a website either from the course website template used in the tutorial or design a website from scratch. In either case, the student will incorporate shared navigation borders and themes.

2. At a minimum, the website will contain the following pages:

A. A homepage (index.htm) listing information about the teacher, school, contact information including an email link), courses/grade taught, and other information determined important.

B. A “Student Announcements” page with 2-3 announcements (fabricated or actual).

C. A “Parent’s Page” with information about your classroom of importance to parents.

D. A “Homework” page with links to 2-3 homework assignments (fabricated or actual).

E. An “About the Teacher” page with ‘resume’ style information about yourself (if you don’t already have a resume started, now is a good time!).

F. An “EDTC 3123” page containing the unit plan and links to the individual lessons in the unit.

G. Any two other pages of the student’s choosing. Some possibilities might include a Links Page, Class Polices Page, Extra Credit Opportunities Page, Course Readings Page, About Our School Page, Playground Rules Page, School Supplies Page, or any other page you think necessary to make your site complete.
